excuse my French

What happens, if you get sick in Suzhou? Better don´t get sick! But if, thank god, there are expat clinics in Shanghai. Great Service, high price! Better be well insured.

Regina's friend had to see the doctor in Shanghai, Regina sacrificed herself and accompanied her. That´s why she could spend a relaxed tai tai day in Shanghai.

The clinic is located in this futuristic building at the edge of People Square, close to Nanjing Road. The same building as the Marriott hotel and of course there is also a massage place and a spa. What did you expect? This is China.

We couldn’t figure out yet, if the soaring peaks are just for decoration or if they protect against evil spirits and dragons.

The old building on the left is the Art Museum, nope, haven´t been there, didn´t get a t-shirt. But we´ve been told it should be worth a look.

 Die Klinik    das Museum

The Shanghai Museum reminds Chinese people to an antique kind of soup bowl. We think it´s more like an U.F.O., really strange. How ever there supposed to be real ancient chinese bronze and sculptures. Have a look, if you want, but we´ve seen too many fake stuff …

Trust me, we aren´t just uncultured Philistines. We´ve been to the urban planing exhibition center, even twice. There is the huge model of upcoming Shanghai in 2020. Have a look at the pictures here, sorry, only german text so far.

Urban Planning Exhibition Center    Grand Theater

Heaven is round, the earth is square, if you belief, what the chinese belief. For that reason, the Grand Theater got this shape. The good thing is, they trust, the earth isn´t a disc. Could you imagine that shape otherwise?

After almost 2 years in Suzhou, Regina never managed to stroll around the former  french concession, it´s a shame.Stephan´s been there before for a delicious birthdaymeal and he knew, it´s only a short walk from Peoples Square to the famous Taican Lu. Especially, if the weather is that great. Blue sky, ….

Yes, I know, even in Suzhou you have to be careful, crossing the road as a pedestrian, but in Shanghai? It´s just the same. Almost killed by an E-Bike, Regina got her revenge by taking photographs of the interesting vehicles

 Vehikel    Merh Vehikel

Trust us, if you remove all the tapes all over China, this country will shatter into 9999 pieces. Silicone would be the last chance then.

 Regenschutz    Safety first....

It´s still cold some days and we are expecting the rainy season, Shanghais biker don´t care. They´re prepared with full body condoms including ears, and all the other stuff they might eventually need.

Haven´t heard about violent crimes in Shanghai but bikes sometimes get lost. So better use a huge bike lock even if it´s heavier then the whole bike.

 Grün im Grosstadtdschungel   Grossstadtdschungel

Unimpressed by all the traffic around, we found this lovely snug park. Living in Suzhou, it´s hard to admit but this place is indeed beautiful an without entrance fee.

 Franzosen Viertel    chinesische Zweisamkeit

The elderly in China are quite fit. Getting up early, slow-motion-jogging at 6 am and artistic gymnastics are healthy, you know. Also stone-jumping while holding the hand of your beloved. Younger people practice heavy wedding-photo-posing

 Paule    beim shopping

Just around the corner, close to Cartier, Regina discovered „Paul“ THE french bakery in Shanghai. Some french people refuse to speak french to germans, but the chinese don´t worry about that, they welcome their customers with a friendly „bonjour“. That was really unexpected.

jede Menge Touristen    noch mehr shopping

As a real tai tai, Regina enjoyed strolling around the old houses, passing by some lovely small stores, saunter along narrow alleys, even though she didn´t buy anything. It´s enough fun, just watching the tourist from all over the world.

 Verona? Oder doch Shanghai?    Villäle

Everybody was in a good mood. Taking photographs here, posing there, indeed, these people take care of photographers, waiting, give you the chance to take a picture without them „posing“, very unusual in China. So don´t wonder, Regina wasn´t the only person in Shanghai, even if it seems so.

 Architektur    chinesisches Barock

We all know, Shanghai's skyscrapers are amazing, but the „small“ buildings are also absolutely remarkable. You´ll find any kind of architecture in this mega city: roman colonial, chinese baroque, laola waves or oriental domes. If you know, what´s inside of this mosque-like building, please tell us!

 Laola    Mosche

Only 8 hours later, Retina's friend recovered and was permitted to leave to Suzhou again.

She could have used the crutches if they would have been the same hight, and she could have taken the expensive and stomach friendly painkillers, why she did not, that´s a completely different story....
