Suzhou's Su Show
Beginning of June we got visitors from Germany. Right in time to celebrate Reginas birthday. They also organized a birthday cake, so it's nearly like germany....

Burtstagstorte    Und so sah die Torte innen aus

But, as always, this was only the beginning. After a long walk in Sholu Stephan managed to join us for yammie birthday lunch including the famous "squirrel fish" - at least this is the real translation of "Mandarin Fish". We didn't asked any further questions.

Mandarin Fisch    Grünzeug
drei Stühle    Shopping Meile auf chinesisch

After shopping downtown, ordering a suit at the taylor we were interviewed. Well, that's what happens if a teacher is visiting ;-) Some english students had to interview tourists about China, Suzhou and the meaning of life. Well, if that's all.

After enlightning the students we felt, that we need definitly more cultural education. So we went to enjoy the Su Show (wow, what a clever word) in the local birdsnest, also known as SSCAC. Together with thousands of chinese people.

Die Decke im Theater    Die Theater Utensilien

Included in the ticket fare were also snacks and drinks. Or let's say, pop corn and some chemical fluid, which they called orange juice. Beer costs extra, but it's Regina's birthday. The Su Show is named like that because all the artists in the show are from Suzhou. Including world class ballet.....

Mein Freund, der Clown    Ballet, unglaublich

Our expectations weren't very high. Everything form a provincial catastrophe up to the level of chinese circus was possible. The light show in the beginning was very promising.

Kraftakt - pole dancing mal anders    Kraftakt - pole dancing

And after the ballet it worked out better and better. If Newton had seen the acrobats at the poles, he would have probably needed more than only one apple hitting his had to invent gravitation......

Akrobatik    Akrobatik
Peking Oper    Pekingoper

Well, as we are in China, there is no escape from the beijing opera. This is a must. Even if our ears are not really happy to listen to this so called music (or as Stephan calls it: accustic air pollution). But it was only 10 minutes.

und noch ein Ballet    Hot Jonglage
Tuchdreherinnen    Akrobatische Tuchdreherinnen

The fabric circling girls (is there a real name for this kind of art) were really good. It's really a miracle, how they are able to climb on each other and bend themselfes at the same time.

Feuerspucker    Feuerspucker
Reifen Durchhüpfer    Reifendurchhüpfer

The fire spitter (again, is this the real name?) wasn't allowed to to do his job in the right way. Only small flames. Hmm, maybe there are some fire fighter rules in China, maybe not....

Schwebenummer    Schwebenummer
Und noch ein Ballet    Jonglieren auf dem drehenden Hamsterrad

The flying number was the real high light. It really looked like they are gliding through the air. Maybe they forgot to pay the gravitation bill. Unfortuantly the ballet performed once more. The rotating wheels were a little bit to big for the stage - TIC by the way, but it was nice to look at.

Kunstradfahrn    Abschlussbild

Really a nice show, but we were hungry anyway, the snacks wasn't enough. But we were lucky to get a taxi and had a late dinner at the Hofbräuhaus and also a couple of beers.....

Prosit    Winke Winke

The advaentures of our visitors and how we said good bye to them in the rain, how we managed to get a business class flight to Germany and why we stay longer than planned in China is once again a completly other story........

Vatertag in China

Father's day...

...is also celebrated in China. Mostly by ExPats. And nobody is carrying the beer by his own, there are some tri-cycles...
