Barely two weeks gone, we have new stories to tell. It's really a busy live the TaiTai live.... Our Scots left to Glasgow - Susan for 2 months, John for 2 weeks. This is a very welcome excuse to go to Da Marco again to celebrate the farewell. As we already told, we are
big fans of
playing Mahjong. The problem we have is the table. Our dining table is
too big for 4 players. So Stephan asked some colleagues, where to buy a
Mahjong table. Together with Tomi we went there and yes, it was a real
adventure. Watching people at the south
bus station in
Suzhou is nice, but we came here to look after a Mahjong table. An
automatic one, by the way. Just press one button and the tiles are
mixed, lined up and appear on the table. Wow, that's it. We know exactly, who in Glasgow is getting jealous about it ;-) But we haven't bought one yet, but regarding to Stephan it'll not take long to buy such a magic table. The area around the bus stations is by the way really chinese. Rice cooker, tooth breast, tea and news paper are close at hand, just in case you need it. Since our last trip to Germany Regina has her own camera. This explains that more and more photographs of Stephan will find their way to the homepage. Well, Stephan better gets used to it. As we are planning our next holiday trip to the north west of China we completed our camera equipment a bit more. A new broad angle lens and a tele lens which could be used with both of our cameras. For sure we're in China, which means, there are plenty of nosy people, then there are the price negotiations and the different options.... Not that easy, but we managed it. After all the busy shopping we earned ourself a coffee at Starbucks. And we played with the new equipment..... We stayed downtown to meet more friends and get all out of the "all-you-can-eat-mussels-with-fries" offer at the southern cross. Buckets of mussels and some fries - perfect. So, this was all for Saturday, but it's the beginning of the weekend. Sunday we met a Swiss - Costa Rica family at the HB. They just arrived at Suzhou and were very happy to hear, that there is a big german speaking community in Suzhou and also some Spanish speaking people. Not to forget the german food ;-) The Ladies went to the manicure after lunch (yes, the TaiTai duty), so the men went to the Blue Marlin for an afternoon coffee. Well it's not been a calm coffee due to the celebration of the Suzhou Soccer Champion Ship. The Team from the Blue Marlin won it - congratulations by the way. But how they celebrated - whoa, the german champions could learn a lot here at the Blue Marlin..... A visit at the fabric market in Shanghai is also TaiTai live in the purest way. This fabric market is a real fabric market and not that minuscule as the Suzhou wanna be market. Friends of us are living in
the compound
next to us and from their roof terrasse we took some pictures of our
compound. To make it easy for you, we marked our apartment with a red
circle. Regina made use out of the
good weather and
tested the whole camera equipment if every thing is ok before we leave
for the holiday. On Saturday we went to the international day at SSIS, the Singapore Suzhou International School. All the different nationalities hat booths with typical food, and other things. One thing were the national baskets. One basket full of typical things from one country and everybody could bid on them. Stephan wanted to bid for the basket from Singapore: 48 cans of Tiger beer. Hmmm, somehow we hadn't the time for it ;-) What's impossible to be
missed on such an
event is the cotton candy. The both was fully occupied. And everything
was very nicely organized. The nail studios made a lot of advertising
for the next TaiTai generation. In the afternoon we went for another photo-safari. The lake again. Funny thing, today are more pictures on the homepage as usual ;-) Completely relaxed we were prepared for the Beatles night at the Zapatas. A chinese Band playing Beatles songs in a Tex Mex restaurant in Suzhou. Sounds weird, let's go. But first of all, the water show. The band was really good. Stylish in the 60's suites, the real instruments and even the bass guitarist played it the left handed. Pretty cool. Sunday morning we got really up, cause Regina met a friend and Stephan wanted to visit the camera shop again. Oddly enough nearly nobody was downtown. It was really empty. Maybe the sun was shining to bright, so the chinese were frightened about getting tanned. Who knows. At last we were able to collect more pics of the vehicles here in China. As a small "foretaste" here some of them before we put the picture collection online: But that's not all, there was a birthday to be celebrated. And a special one, by the way, because it's the first birthday of Liron. He's easy to find on the pictures.... As you see, we earned our holidays really hard. How Stephan is managing to work an 60 hours week on top of the TaiTai activities and where we go for vacation is a completely other story.... |
